Points of interest close to Albany Airport Budget Car Hire

Discovery Bay Tourism Experience is a great place to start your holiday. Here you will get a detailed history about Australia and its involvement in Whaling. Guided tours take groups every hour and give visitors the opportunity to walk through all the exhibits and learn what it was like for the whalers. Three old whale oil storage tanks have been converted into theatres where you can explore historic photos, artefact, memorabilia, galleries and enormous whale skeletons. The Western Australian Museum is another great place for an insight in the history of Albany. With an informative, local history display and activities for young visitors this is a great place to visit on your holiday. To get insight on the criminal history of Albany drive your car hire over to the Old Gaol and Museum. The Old Gaol houses collections of local artefacts relating to the early settlement and criminal justice system. Stories and histories of some of Australia's most notorious criminals that have passed through the Gaol make for a very interesting visit.

Albany has many landmarks that are known throughout Australia and worth the visit while you are there on holiday. The first is the Gap and Natural Bridge. The Gap is a chasm with water rushing to create a foam and sea spray and the bridge is constructed from granite rock. This location provides you with one of the greatest views of this amazing coastline, and the walking path from where you park your Budget Rental is easy and beautiful to walk through. Desert Mounted Corps Memorial is another popular landmark and is located on the top of Mount Clarence. Start by looking at the Australian Light Horse Regiments statue, then continue to the peak to the lookout platform. This memorial is in honour of horse-mounted police.

There are a few other attractions, in Albany, that you will want to make sure to visit in addition to the landmarks and museums. The Replica of the Brig Amity is an accurate reconstruction of the Brig that Major Edmund Lockyer arrived in Albany on. While on board you take a self-paced audio tour and learn of Major Edmund and his contribution to Australia. The Albany Wind Farm is a great location to view Albany, the rainforest and beaches. There is also a walking track that you can circle around from car park, where you leave your car hire, and again. Take the path that passes by the ocean to get a look at the Dolphins and Whales.
